old house conversion

Reconstruction and Expansion of an Existing Old Farmhouse located in the coastal belt of northern Kashubia. Originally a single-family house with an unused attic, it has been transformed into a two-unit holiday home, with bedrooms located in the attic and featuring large windows concealed behind wooden louvers.

The project’s intent was for the interior to reflect the character and color palette of its surroundings, while also maintaining a local, contemporary identity rooted in context. Both units are dominated by off-white tones, abundant wood, and exposed ceiling structures, combined with historic-style windows with muntins alongside large sliding windows facing the farmstead courtyard.

The interior color composition is complemented by brick flooring on the ground floor and neutral textile accents in shades of gray or cream — such as sofa upholstery, lampshades, and light fixtures reminiscent of fishing nets — along with natural materials including jute rugs and ceramic decorative elements.
